Various paper types were used to enhance the magazine’s dream-like quality. Pearl paper adds a soft, luminous finish, while vegetal paper introduces a hazy, translucent layer, reflecting the dazed and subconscious state associated with sleep.
The binding was designed to feel open and slightly fragile, echoing the nature of sleep itself. Its exposed structure reflects a state that is delicate, transitional, and never fully fixed.
Alongside my role as a general editor, where I contributed three written articles, I was also involved in the overall art direction of Dormant Magazine as part of a collaborative team. My primary focus, however, was within the 3D space, where I developed a series of visual elements that expand the magazine’s aesthetic and conceptual world. These assets were not only used to enrich the publication visually, but were also integrated into AR prototypes, transforming the magazine into a more interactive and immersive experience.
This 3D model explores the idea of a dream-like interior space, acting as a symbolic structure within the magazine’s narrative. Designed with a minimal yet surreal aesthetic, the house reflects themes of rest, isolation, and the quiet environments associated with sleep.
The frame was created to accompany a bedtime story, reflecting the dream-like atmosphere of the narrative. Its fluid, organic form enhances the theme of dreaming, acting as a visual extension of the story’s surreal and subconscious tone.
The star elements were initially created to support the bedtime story, reinforcing its dream-like atmosphere. They were later extended beyond the narrative and became a recurring visual motif, representing Dormant’s online presence.
The capsule elements were created to support the darker bedtime story, reinforcing its unsettling and nightmarish tone. Their presence introduces a sense of discomfort, contrasting with softer dream imagery and highlighting the more disturbing side of sleep.
